Screen Acting - The Basics | Term 4 - Monday October 4th - Thursday December 9th 2010

This course is an introductory course in acting for the camera.  Areas covers an explanation of Industry terminology and on-set etiquette, an investigation into various acting techniques and styles and improvisation techniques which help the actor to break down barriers and connect with other performers.   Preliminary instruction in the use of the camera as a tool for effective communication is also introduced.  Script analysis and breakdown processes are explored and each actor is encouraged to identify any inhibitions or blocks they may have and allow their natural screen quality to emerge.

Screen Acting - The Craft | Term 4 Monday October 4th - Thursday December 9th 2010

This course is designed specifically for actors who have acting experience and an understanding of industry terminology and on-set protocols.  The aim of the class is to help actors define character for the screen; aiding them in finding nuance and color in a scene while adding their own “spice” to the role.  Particular emphasis is placed on finding the truth in performance and pitching it at an appropriate level for the camera.  Clarifying choices and fine tuning any mannerisms or habits that undermine these choices is a primary focus.
